ISSCO

ISSCO is a research centre attached to the Ecole de Traduction e d'Interprétation of the University of Geneva, which carries out work in the field of natural language processing and, in particular, in multilingual language processing and translation issues. Some of their projects include TEMAA, EAGLES I and II, TransRouter and TransTerm.

Terminology Forum

This is a forum for those who are interested in principles and methods of terminological research and work. It provides information on organizations, R&D, education, terminology collections, and links related to terminology.

The Translation, Theory & Technology (ttt.org) group

The site is maintained by the Translation Research Group of Brigham Young University’s Department of Linguistics. In their own words: "As the intentionally ambiguous name suggests, this website provides information about language theory and language technology, particularly relating to translation." They are involved in work related to standards in translation.

TERMISTI

The TERMISTI is a research center attached to the Higher Institute for Translators and Interpreters (ISTI) in Brussels. Its work focuses on two areas: modeling multilingual terminology, and terminotics.

Translation Bureau

The Bureau supplies linguistic services to the Canadian Parliament and to more than 130 federal organizations. Both publications and terminology compilations can be helpful for translators.

The Center for Language Technology (CST)

The Center for Language Technology is a sector-specific research institution under the Danish Ministry for Research and Information Technology. Its mission is to carry out and promote strategic research and commercial development in the areas of language technology and computational linguistics in Denmark. The section on projects links to several EU interesting research efforts. As they put it: "We build bridges between research and market".

EU funded projects normally include commercial partners pursuing applications for the research project, which gives them a particular relevance for professionals.

One of the leading centers in the area of machines and translation.

The KANT project at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)

A project in the area of corpus-based machine translation (CBMT), also known as Example-Based Machine Translation (EBMT).

Language Technology Lab

This center in Germany focuses on new technologies for language processing. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of their major research lines.

BITRA. Bibliographical database of Translation and Interpreting Studies.

BITRA comprises more than 6,300 documents (books, chapters, articles, journals) making up a database on translation and interpreting assembled and coordinated by Javier Franco (Dpto. Filologia Inglesa, Universidad de Alicante). There are versions in Spanish, English and Catalan. Searching in BITRA is completely free, although we would appreciate acknowledgement from users who have found it helpful.
